24-7 or 24-7-365
Over-used and most irritating phrases - 24-7 or 24-7-365 ?
I think so. Too many people use the words 24-7 too loosely or 24-7-365 to exaggerate their claims of the difficulty or “constantness” of something.
The next time someone tells you they are a 24-7 or 24-7-365 operation, challenge it to dig into what they really mean. Once you find out, you’ll see it’s not all it’s cracked up to be…
That’s probably why Reader’s Digest recently stated in a section of their publication that the phrase 24-7 was one of the most irritating phrases of the English language. I would add 24-7-265 to that.
