out of the mouth of babes can come...

The Bible has 2 very interesting and related quotes about “out of the mouth of babes”

In Psalms 8:2 we find this:

Out of the mouth of babes and sucklings hast thou ordained strength because of thine enemies, that thou mightest still the enemy and the avenger.”

In Matthew 21:16 we find this:

“And Jesus saith unto them, Yea; have ye never read, Out of the mouth of babes and sucklings thou hast perfected praise”

What does this tell us?

Never discount wisdom from the most unlikely sources and from the most youthful, “out of the mouth of babes”. We can all learn something, even from those younger and less experienced than us if they have something wise to say.

How? Because it may be more than just them talking. maybe it’s God talking to us through them, and they are the most uncorrupted innocent mouths to tell us the way it is without sugar coating it! Out of the mouths of babes can come wisdom we need!

At twenty years of age, the will reigns; at thirty, the wit, and at forty, the judgement.

- Henry Grattan

A quick comment:
Yes, how true this is. When I was 20, I had a will that wouldn’t quit. At 30 some of that faded a bit and the wit did begin to take over…whether by being witty or by using wit to get things dine rather than necessarily by sheer will.

I guess I have yet to personally experience the judgment part since I’m not yet 40.

No matter, I’ve seen it enough…experience and maturity combine to form judgment…and that’s why most CEOs or senior executives are 40 or older…that’s where better judgment resides.

Even at 30 I was willing to admit this.

What to do with this quote:

Try to use a bit more of the other principles in age groups you are not in. If you’re in your 30’s….if you’re in your 20’s, …and for those in their 40’s….

This is not the unhealthy kind of fear, but instead a reverent form of respect and fear of consequence for being unholy and unworthy in the presence of the most holy.

This is often misunderstood and humulity is so central to understanding this nd being like this.
